Mission Trip Update!

I have received some pictures from the team that went to Haiti. The reports are just incredible. They have seen over 2,500 people trust Christ so far.

From what Vernon Lovelady, TBC Academic Dean, is telling me this is true mission work. In fact, he said that if someone wants to know if they can make it on the mission field, then they need to spend a month in Haiti. The poverty and the "lack" according to him is heart moving.

I also have received news from the team in Juarez. There was one particular story that spoke to my heart. Two of our TBC students, Andrea Quintanilla and Daniel Oswalt, jumped on a parked city transit bus and started giving the Gospel to the riders. Not realizing it the bus started to drive away. They stayed on and simply kept preaching the Gospel and the people kept trusting Christ. In fact, if I understand the story right, the driver kept driving past stops on purpose because he wanted the people to finish hearing the message about salvation.

I know the hearts of the two teams are being moved for people. That is what Texas Baptist College is all about. Exciting our students to reach people.

TBC MISSION'S TRIP!!!

Juarez Mexico TBC Team

Texas Baptist College is a four-year Bible college that is a ministry of Longview Baptist Temple. Texas Baptist College was founded in 1982 with the sole purpose of reaching the world with the Gospel.

We started to make a commitment for our college students two years ago to give them the opportunity to visit a foreign mission field before they graduate.

Last year, we ventured out to Juarez, Mexico to do mission work for a week. Wow! Did that ever light a fire in the hearts and lives of our college students. That fire has lasted even to this day.

This year we not only sent a team of students to Juarez, but we also added a college team that headed to Haiti.

The college team that headed to Haiti drove from Longview to Miami Wednesday night after church and then caught a flight to Haiti.

I heard by a distant phone call from Vernon Lovelady that just in two days they have seen over 1,000 people saved in just two days of being in Haiti.

Please pray for safety as they are doing the will of God in a foreign.

I will be placing more updates on my blog concerning the trips and what God is doing in the lives of our students and the stories of people being saved.

Thank you to one of our assistant pastors, John Robinson, for the many hours of labor in making sure our website is updated on a weekly basis. Bro. LBT Sunday Update!

Sunday Morning Service / 1-8-12

I wanted to share something that was a total blessing to me as a pastor this past Sunday morning.

I was preaching on the "Lot In The Lap." During the sermon we had one of our guest that I could tell God was working on her heart and in her life. As I was beginning the invitation, Mary stepped out and began to walk down the aisle. The first words out of her mouth were "I need to trust Christ." The wife of the chairman of our deacon board was able to take the Bible and show Mary that Christ could be her Saviour. After trusting Christ, Mary then proceeded to follow the Lord in baptism.

My heart was warmed to watch Mrs. Dickerson lead Mary to the Lord. The care and patience that Mrs. Dickerson took to explain the Gospel was exciting and refreshing. People trusting Christ is what the ministry is all about.

Teen Preacher Boy Reaching People!

Here at the Longview Baptist Temple we have several teen preacher boys. They understand the ministry is more than standing behind a pulpit and preaching the Word. The ministry is about reaching people with the Gospel.

This past Sunday morning, as we were introducing our guest, one of our teen preacher boys, David Vazquez, stood to his feet and proudly announced that he had brought his very first visitor to church.

David brought Jeremiah, the one in the dark shirt, with him and they both sat together on the very front row.

What a joy it is to my heart to help train the next generation of preachers who understand the importance of soul winning and working with people. Please keep David in your prayers. He is a student of the Bible and a lover of people.

It is very important to me that our preacher boys understand the great commission is three-fold; winning the lost, baptizing the saved, and training the saved to win the lost.

New Member Arrives

Sunday night after the service, Kelly and I made our way up to the hospital to hold our newest addition to the church family. Jessica & Martin Meave had a new beautiful baby girl: Emma LuAnne Meave. I am convinced that Jessica & Martin are going to make wonderful parents. Each of them have a wonderful support system with a very loving and caring family.

Christmas Day @ LBT

Sunday Morning Christmas Day Service

What a wonderful day we had yesterday morning and evening. Yes! Despite the rumors that may abound, Longview Baptist Temple had services both Sunday morning and Sunday night.

Sunday morning was a delightful time with members and their family members gathering to sing about the Saviour and then to preach about Him.

This Christmas Day was made just that more special because the entire Gray family attended. It is very rare these days to have everyone together in one service. Of course, my sister Kim, Karen, and their families are members here at LBT. My brother Scott and his family were in town for the Christmas break. Then an added blessing was the fact my father and mother were able to attend. My mother's health has not been good. So, to see her in church on Sunday morning was a great thing.

I preached Sunday morning on the subject "The Exciting Christmas." You will be able to listen to the sermon in its entirety on the website here in a couple of days. God bless those members who took the time to come to the Lord's house on His birthday.

Sunday Night Christmas Night Service

Then on Sunday night we gathered again to preach and sing about Jesus. The children's choirs sang several selections. Under the direction of Bro. Matney, the children used their handbells for the very first time. They did a great job.

I preached on the subject, "Christmas Manifested." The need to keep Christmas alive in our lives this upcoming year.

At the end of the day, we were able to see three professions and one baptism. What a wonderful church with a great spirit to see people saved and baptized. Thank you members and guest for making Longview Baptist Temple a special place to attend this Christmas.

New Nursing Home Service

We are proud to announce a new nursing home has been added to the outreach of the Longview Baptist Temple.

We now are holding service every Sunday Morning at 9:00 at the Haven Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Longview.

Our Haven Care Nursing Home pastor is Bro. Jonathan Blankenship. Bro. Blankenship along with his dear wife, daughter and a great team of workers will be loving on the good people of Haven Care and meeting their spiritual needs.

This past Sunday was the second week of services. I was able to attend and open up in prayer. Before I prayed, I expressed thanks to one of our young ladies, Andrea, who has been faithfully visiting the residents for about a year. Andrea's faithfulness made it possible for us to now hold weekly services.

Please continue to pray for our church as we reach out into our community to make a difference for Jesus Christ.

Marriage Seminar in Denver, CO

Kelly and I loaded a plane this morning bound for Denver, CO to speak at a marriage seminar for our good friend, Pastor Bill Reeves.

I am looking forward to spending a couple of days with Kelly without the children. We will celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary this next March. What a wonderful time I have had being married to such a wonderful godly lady.

We are in the Dallas Airport right now waiting on our next flight.

Pastor Reeves is a good supporter of Texas Baptist College. Two of his children are attending our college. Buddy and Hope are a blessing to our college. Their love for the Lord is evident by their Christian life and work ethic. Please continue to pray for our college. We are working hard at providing a power packed education and ministry training place for the future of fundamentalism.

Tonight Kelly and I went on a date to Marshall Texas. After a meal at Gucci's, went to the town square to enjoy the world famous Marshall Wonder Lights.

We walked around, purchased some hot apple cider, minus the Arsenic, and enjoyed seeing the ice skating, giant rocking horse, and giant tube slide.

What a wonderful time of the year to spend with my best friend, Kelly.

Tonight, we held our traditional Thanksgiving Teen Preacher Boys night. What a wonderful job they did tonight preaching God's Word to the people of the Longview Baptist Temple.

We started at 6:00 PM sang a couple of songs and then got right into the preaching.

I had my father, Dr. Bob Gray Sr., come up to the platform to take a picture with these young men. I realize that I have entered into another man's vineyard. when I became pastor. These young men had a great former pastor in my father. May I continue to influence young men for the ministry.

LCA LADY EAGLES WIN!

LCA Lady Eagles & Mesquite Lady Yellow Jackets

This past Friday night, the Longview Christian Academy Lady Eagles were in play against the Mesquite Baptist Lady Yellow Jackets.

The game was slated for 6:00 p.m. However, the Lady Yellow Jackets arrived early. Therefore, we played a practice game before the scheduled game. The Lady Yellow Jackets won the final game 3 of the practice match.

Then we began the scheduled game at 6:00. This time it was a different story with the Lady Eagles coming out on top. However, once again it took three games to pull out the win.

I have attended many volleyball games in my years as youth pastor and now pastor. I have never been to a more pleasant game in my life. Both teams were absolutly Christian and lady like at all times. You can tell they have been taught by their parents and pastors to love the Lord with all of their heart. After the two games were over, they gathered together for a team picture. God bless these girls.

I believe we are scheduled to be there in the first part of December. I am looking forward to the trip and the fellowship.

I want to say a big thank you to Dr Bob Ross and the fine job he is doing as Pastor of the Open Door Baptist Church there in Mesquite, TX.

Lancaster, OH

This past week I had the opportunity to preach for the 14th consecutive year at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lancaster, OH, pastored by Pastor Phil Manning.

We had a great meeting. As always I was greeted with Ohio State items in my room. This year, I was greeted with a treasure hunt that included balloons, streamers, and an OHIO STATE BALLOON MAN in my bed. I am a Michigan fan so you can see why they like to give me a hard time.

In fact, I have carried home so many Ohio State articles of clothing through the years, that my oldest son, RG, has become an Ohio State fan.

A special thank you to the three teen girls who made this a very memorable time with all of the decorating and hard work. I am praying that each of them marry a MICHIGAN man someday. Ladies, thank you for your hospitality and kindness.

The other highlight of preaching in Lancaster each and every year is the fellowship I have come to enjoy with Dr. and Mrs. Wendell Evans. Dr. Evans was a huge influence on my mother and father while they were students at Hyles-Anderson College back in the 70's. No doubt their faithfulness to the Lord has born fruit in the life of the Gray family.

Please continue to pray for this dear couple as they travel and encourage the hearts of people all over the nation.

Quench Your Thirst For God Fall Campaign

We are in the middle of our fall Sunday school campaign. As a church, we set a goal to see 1,225 people trust Christ through our soul-winning efforts and 200 visitors during the five week campaign. Our theme this year is "Quench Your Thirst For God." It is a soul winning and attendance building campaign.

With three weeks down and two weeks to go, the Lord has allowed us to see 1,008 people trust Christ and 172 visitors attend our church in the last three weeks.

I asked every member in the church sign up and take a day to win a soul to Christ. I also asked them commit to a Sunday of bringing a visitor.

These have been exciting days here at the Longview Baptist Temple. The building is filling up. People being saved and baptized every Sunday. People joining the church. Lives being changed!

Every Saturday morning I meet with the Texas Baptist College preacher boys to teach them how to win souls, bring converts to church, have converts baptized, and to love people.

This morning was a special treat for them. Our college Founder, Dr. Bob Gray Sr., was in town this weekend. He took the time to teach them the ins and outs of the ministry.

What a wonderful time to glean from the decades of experience.

I am excited about the future of Fundamentalism and the quality of leaders we are producing here at Texas Baptist College.

Band Concert at Kilgore Middle School

Tonight I am attending a band concert for one of our young ladies who ride out bus from Kilgore, TX.

Her name is Tamrine and she plays the Trumpet. Three months ago Anthony Hamilton, one our faithful bus captains, found this family of nine led by Grandmother, Bessie. They all trusted Christ and followed the Lord in Baptism.

What a joy to pastor such great people.

Great Children At LBT

Pastor & The Arrington Children

What a great Sunday morning here at the Longview Baptist Temple. We have acquired a "golf cart" to help our members get from their car to the front door of the church. This morning was the first time we were able to use it. My very first passengers were the Arrington children. They helped me break it in.

Bro. and Mrs. Arrington are faithful and valuable members of our church. They are great people with a deep love for the Lord. There is no doubt Longview Baptist Temple is a very blessed church to have such great people such as the Arrington family.

Today after church, I received this picture of two of our newest young members posing before church. Pictured to the right are Jen and Ben Ortiz. They came through the line this morning after church to receive a "dumb dumb" sucker that I pass out to all of the children every Sunday. I commented on how much I loved Ben's tie and how much I loved Jen's dress.

These are two of the cutest kids you will ever meet. Although Bro. & Mrs. Ortiz are new to our church they have brought an excitement to our church family. Definitely they are the caliber of people that make the Longview Baptist Temple a great place to attend. I enjoy being able to look up in the balcony in the left front corner and see this family enjoying the Lord each and every service.

Please pray for our children that they may learn to love the Lord very deeply and understand what Christianity is all about. What a great opportunity to influence the next generation.

Men"s Revival Great Start

Tonight was the start to our annual Homecoming Revival 2011 with a Saturday night men's revival meeting. We had a great time with Evangelist Rob Hicks. Bro Hicks preached on the importance of a father taking time for his sons.

At the end of the meeting we had 150 men present, served 200 pounds of barbecue brisket with all the fixings, saw over 12 people saved with four men following the Lord in baptism.

We are looking forward to a great week of preaching, singing, and seeing God move in the hearts of people.

Saturday night, October 15th @ 5:00 we are turning the parking lot in front of the gym into a men's revival center complete with old fashioned singing, preaching, and eating.

Evangelist Rob Hicks is going to be with us for our Homecoming Revival beginning Sunday night, October 16th @ 6:00. However, we are getting a jump start with the men meeting on Saturday night, October 15th. Come prepared for some preaching just for men. No ties are allowed! No women are allowed!

What a great time for the men of our church and area to gather to hear from God's Word at such a crucial time in the lives of the men of our country. See you there!

Texas Baptist College Life

Today I was finishing up teaching my Counseling class and met Bro. Joe Wenger on the way in to teach his class. We did not plan to dress alike but we did dress along the same theme. I joked with him about singing a duet together.

Bro. Wenger is a big part of our college. He teaches some of our Theology courses. He is one of the smartest men I know with a deep love for our Saviour and students.

The other day I was getting a cup of coffee and decided to take a picture of the students in line waiting to buy some things from the coffee bar. They are a great group of students who love the Lord.

Classes are great! Ministry work is great! Love my job!

The Danny Peurifoy Scholarship Award is given to a student who has successfully completed his/her Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior years at Texas Baptist College. The recipient of this award is determined by his/her academic and spiritual achievement as well as Christian character. The candidates will be voted upon by the Texas Baptist College Administration and Mrs. Carole Peurifoy.

The Danny Peurifoy Scholarship Award will be presented at the Commencement Exercises prior to the recipients Senior year. The Danny Peurifoy Scholarship is a monetary award to be applied to the recipient's final semester's tuition.

Contributions to the Danny Peurifoy Scholarship Fund will perpetuate his legacy of love for Christ and the souls of men.

Congratulations to our Mr. Brien Taylor, the first recipient, pictured above with Mrs. Carole Peurifoy.

Wednesday Night Bible Study at LBT!

9-21-11 Wednesday Night Crowd

Last night we had a great crowd for our mid-week Bible study.

On Wednesday nights, we have been studying "Powerful People From Proverbs." However, last night I took a break to teach on an unusual topic that our church seemed to love. "How To Complain To The Pastor." The title was an attention getter. The better title would have been "How To Express A Concern To The Pastor." For the most part I think we all liked the first title better. After all we are Baptist!

I biblically helped the church to understand how to approach the pastor with problems. Problems are part of any church. How those problems are handled will make the difference between keeping people and losing people.

I love pastoring the people of the Longview Baptist Temple.

Teen Preacher Boy, David Dean - Preaching

David Dean Preaches the Word!!!

I was sent this picture by Bus Captain, Anthony Hamilton of the A-5 Kilgore bus route, of one of our teen preacher boys, David Dean.

Today was an exciting day for this Kilgore bus route. Just three months ago this route was averaging "0", but by the grace of God it has grown to a high day today of 37. They had 37 riders, 23 saved, 7 first-timers, and 1 baptism.

Today on the way home one of our preacher boys, David Dean stood up and starting preaching the Word to the riders. Anthony told me he was such an encouragement to those bus riders.

I love the bus ministry. What a great opportunity for our young people to work with people in the community. I am proud of David. In fact, last week he was able to lead an adult man to the Lord. His convert rode the bus and followed the Lord in baptism. He is going to make a find preacher man.

Pastoral Visit With A Four Year Old

Tonight Kelly and I went on a date and decided to make a pastoral visit to one of our younger members, Caleb Anderson. Caleb is four years old and full of life.

The visit was not to PRAY but to PLAY. You guessed it. Caleb and I crawled up onto his trampoline and began to jump and jump and jump. I got worn out quick Caleb continued to jump and flip.

I love pastoring and serving the people of the Longview Baptist Temple.

Soul Winning in Longview

In addition to our church-wide soul winning on Wednesday night with church members, we also have Thursday night Pastor's soul winning. This is an opportunity for the men of our church to head out for about an hour to see people saved.

Tonight some our college preacher boys hit the streets. I went with Ryan Pledger of Florida. We were each able to see someone trust Christ. That is Ryan pictured above leading a lady to the Lord.

Then one of our men texted me the first picture you see above of someone trusting Christ as their Saviour.

Soul winning is alive and well in Longview, TX. As I say to our soul winners, "A great Sunday starts tonight with souls trusting Christ."

Ladies Meeting - September 27th

Charlie, Gertrude, and Pastor Help Children Sing!

This past Wednesday night, our Pee Wee Children's Choir sang in church for us. Each week at their practice two special people show up to help them sing, behave, and learn their music; Charlie & Gertrude.

I was so impressed with the creativity of our children's choir directors, Bro. & Mrs. John David Matney, that I jumped in and added a twist. I put a chair at the altar right in front of the children's choir and held Charlie and Gertrude and helped the children sing their song. On my way, down to take my place during prayer, one of our deacons wives took this snap shot of the three of us.

What a joy it is to come to church and fellowship and love on God's people. The Lord has been good to the Longview Baptist Temple.

Parking Lot Update & Construction

This past week we had our parking lot repaired, sealed, and striped. This was a much needed improvement for our church.

It was amazing to watch the men work in 105 to 110 degree heat everyday. The commitment they had to finish the project was amazing. There is not doubt the men of our church have a deep love for the Lord.

By the way, you will like to know that when all was said and done, we only had 12 empty spaces last Sunday at the 11:00 am service. We since have added some more parking spaces out by the road.

In addition to updating the front parking lot, we have created a much needed exit in front of the gym that empties onto Neiland Drive, our access road by the college.

I was out inspecting the work and decided to try my hand at some "Jackhammer" work. Wow! That is tougher than preaching to a group of hard-hearted Baptist. Nevertheless, I made a spiritual decision after my experience with the Jackhammer. I am going to stick to preaching the Gospel.

I am enjoying pastoring the great people of the Longview Baptist Temple. It has been a busy summer. The Lord has just blessed us immensly.

Much Needed Vacation

Last week our family took a couple of days and headed to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to spend a couple of days relaxing. We went Go Carting! As you can see in the picture above RG was actually driving. He steered, operated the gas and brake peddles. Wow you talk about an experience, that was a rush! He did great until we got into traffic with other drivers then he thought he was on the Wii and decided to try and crash them off of the track. Nonetheless we survived.

That night we headed to the hotel to settle in for the night. RG found a bathrobe in the closet and determined he was the king of the room. He put on the robe, grabbed a bottle of water, arranged his pillows, and stretched out to relax. We started laughing at his attitude about it all. What a joy he is to our family.

Jordan and I enjoyed a round of Golf with Bro. Byron and Bro. Gilbert on Friday. What a great time of such a relaxing sport...yeah right! We sweated in 110 degree weather while we enjoyed the thrill of victory on some holes and then the agony of defeat on most of the holes. Thank you Bro. Gilbert and Bro willis for a great time.

On Saturday morning early, before we headed back for a day of soul winning, we enjoyed a time of fellowship over breakfast with Bro and Mrs. Willis, missionaries to Panama. This was the first time our wives had met and became fast friends. Praise God for friends in the ministry.

Although it was a short two get away, we really enjoyed ourselves. Praise the Lord for a family who loves the Lord.

Preaching in Panama

I left for Panama Friday morning. I am here preaching with Evangelist Allen Domelle, and Assistant Pastor Mike McClain from West Virginia. I have been enjoying myself. We just started the meeting yesterday with missionary Byron Willis.

I have been impressed with the passion and commitment of Bro. Willis. Truly he has a great work here. Yesterday, I watched ten routes bring in over 700 children to the house of God. There were people everywhere. They have so many people Bro. Willis has two rounds of Sunday school and preaching every Sunday morning. We were able to see people saved and baptized.

Family Growing Up

This past Sunday night my wife captured a moment I wanted to share with my blog readers. Some of the cousins were hanging out at the front altar after church goofing off, as usual, and my wife had them pose for a random picture. There are four siblings in my family and ten grandchildren for my parents.

Scottie has been visiting for the summer while Scott was on tour. We have enjoyed him very much.

FREE PRODUCE FOR EAST TEXANS!

Longview Baptist Temple has been designated as a produce drop for Gregg County by the East Texas Food Bank. Twice a month a semi pulls up to the back parking lot of the Longview Baptist Temple and begins to unload four sometimes five pallets of produce. This produce is free of charge to the community.

Every other Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 the back parking lot is filled with over 300 people taking advantage of the free produce. What a blessing to see Christianity in action. I believe the local church should be a place that services the needs of people; physical needs as well as spiritual needs.

In addition to the free produce, Longview Baptist Temple daily during the week helps feed those in need of food. We also provide a shopping list on our website, www.lbtministries.com, for people to pre-order their food for pick up.

Please continue to pray for our outreach ministries. Feeding the hungry is part of what Christ did here on this earth, may we continue the tradition.

Surprise Visit From Dr. Larry May

This past Sunday night I was surprises by a visit from a dear friend and hero, Dr. Larry May. Dr. May was the long-time pastor of the great Parkside Baptist Church of Mesquite, TX.

Dr. May now travels with his wonderful wife stirring churches to do more for the Lord. They were in the area and decided to attend the Sunday night preaching service at LBT.

Kelly and I were privileged to take them to get a bite to eat after church.

May the Lord continue to bless their ministry.

The Greener Wedding

What a wonderful day yesterday in the life of one of our faithful families. Bro. & Mrs. Robert Bagwell said goodbye to their youngest daughter, Joanna, as they gave her away in marriage to Brad Greener.

What a joy to be part of such a special occasion. The ceremony was held outside with family and friends gathered to witness such a wonderful event.

Please pray for Brad and Joanna, they leave this Tuesday to head back to San Diego, CA where Brad is stationed. He has one more tour of duty and then is leaving the military to return to East Texas to live.

I would like to say a special thank you to Bro. and Mrs. Bagwell. We have known each other for many years. I have always admired you and your family. May the Lord continue to bless you and yours. Thank you for allowing me to be part of such an historic occasion.

Deep Sea Fishing

For the next two days a group of about 14 men from Longview Baptist Temple have traveled to Galveston, TX for a two-day deep sea fishing trip. This is the first time we have done something like this as a church. No doubt we are excited about catching a lot of fish.

We are sitting at Fisherman's Ward eating a light lunch before hitting the high seas. Pray that we do not get sea sick.

What a joy to be able to spend time with godly men.

What A Great Week At Teen Convention 2011!

WOW! What a week at our 17th National Teen Convention. We saw God move in a mighty way. The churches who attended came with a spirit ready to receive the things of God. With the bottom floor full to capacity Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday night we sang, had contest, sang, had more contest, sang, and then preached each night. The altars were full and hearts were touched and broken through out the week.

When we arrived at Wednesday night, Dr. Danny Ortiz preached a powerful message on "And I Sought For A Man Among Them." There is no doubt it was the message and the messenger for the hour. He pointed out the fact we are lacking in young men who are surrendering to the call God has on their life. When the invitation was given, there were over 170 teen boys and girls who surrendered their life to serve the Lord with their life as Pastors, Preachers, Missionaries, and to be wives of full-time servants of God.

I would encourage you to go to our Teen Convention website to see the recap video, look at the photos, and listen to the preaching. There is no doubt it will stir your heart to live for the Lord. Please pray for all the teens who made decisions to live for the Lord. They have a long rode ahead of them.

A special thanks to all the churches who attended this year. A big thank you to our church and all the members who worked hard to pull off yet another incredible Teen Convention. May God bless each and everyone of you.

Teen Convention 2011 Starts Monday Night!

I was passing through the balcony a few moments ago making one of many final inspections before Sunday when I took these pictures.

As you can tell, our theme this year for our 17th National Teen Convention is "Dare To Be Different." We have worked hard at the decorations and are ready to preach, sing, play, and watch God do some incredible things in the lives of some teenagers.

In addition to putting the finishing touch on the Teen Convention decorations, we were able in one week take all of the pews out of the bottom floor, re carpet the bottom floor, put the pews back, bolt them back into place, and re carpet the hallways. Wow have we been busy.

Please pray for next week. We have churches coming from all over the midwest and southeast. God has allowed us to be an influence for Him for the past 17 years.

Pew Moving Night A Success

THE PEW MOVING CREW

This past Sunday night, over 50 men volunteered their time to help move all of the pews on the bottom floor out of the auditorium to make room for new carpet to be installed.

I have been announcing for about 12 weeks the fact that we were going to move the pews out of the auditorium to have new carpet installed. When the night came, a job that I thought would take close to two hours, took just over 35 minutes to accomplish. We divided the men up into seven teams and had rollers for the pews and then we moved them.

As you can see, the pews now sit in our gymnasium waiting to be put back this coming Friday night. Not only were our men amazing in getting the pews out of the auditorium, but they have volunteered their time to come back and move the pews back into the auditorium.

I am grateful for all of the men and their willingness to pitch in make the move happen.

EMPTY LOWER FLOOR

Please continue to pray for our church. We are growing and giving our auditorium a face lift along with different projects this summer.

There is no doubt God's work is the greatest work in the world.

Preaching In Florida

This past Thursday and Friday I was privilege to share the platform with Evangelist Allen Domelle at the Central Fellowship Baptist Church in Lake Helen, Florida pastored by our good friend Lamar Breedlove.

This was the fourth time we have had the honor of preaching this great conference. There is no doubt God met with us during the last couple of days. Teenagers were saved, souls stirred, and hearts touched. We had a great time.

On a side note, for whatever reason God has allowed Bro. Domelle and myself to team up to preach His Word this summer in several places; Texas, Panama, Missouri, North Carolina, and of course Florida. I have enjoyed his Christ-like spirit and deep love for the Lord.

Please continue to pray that more souls will be saved during this summer of great opportunity.

Heavy Counseling Before Service

Tonight before the service there was a delegation of children in my office that needed some heavy counseling. The average age of the children was 6 years of age.

Oh to be six again. No problems. Happy. Excited about life. Parents to pay for everything. No school. No spankings. LOL

My solution to their huge problems was "Dumb Dumb" suckers and "Smarties." I am not blame for the children making bad grades because of the suckers I give them.

I love pastoring. The most enjoyable part to me is to see the children's eyes light up when we see each other. I would like to think it has to do with me being the pastor, however, I think it is because I am the guy who has the jar of suckers in my office.

Winning The Lost In Longview

What a joy it is to lead a group of men in our church to win the lost. While I was leading a man to the Lord, my partner, Aaron Bruski, walked over and led this man to Jesus who was waiting on his family.

As a Pastor, I love talking to people about the Lord. So far today, we have seen people saved, people coming to church, and people lined up to follow the Lord in baptism.

What a great week of soul winning. We offer eight organized times for the people of our church to go tell the world about Jesus. I have the privilege of attending four of those times each week.

Wednesday Night Soul Winning

Each Wednesday night at 6:00 we hold our church-wide soul winning. What a joy it is for Kelly and I to go out an spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We were driving down the road and saw these two ladies pushing their baby and stopped and gave them the Gospel. Kelly just finished praying with them. They both trusted Christ as their way to Heaven.

Praise The Lord for a soul-winning pastor's wife.

Breakfast With The Cape's

This morning Kelly and I had the thrill of spending time with Christine & Tyler Cape. What a joy to have watched these two grow from wonderful young people into fine adults. Not only are they married, but have three wonderful children; Kaylan, Tyler, & Davis.

DeAnna & Josh Doyle - Great Wedding!

What a wonderful night we had last night as we saw our only daughter marry a fine young man. DeAnna and Josh looked great and we could tell they were anxious to begin their life together.

When DeAnna was about fourteen she gave me a coin that had written on it "Good For One Hug." I have carried that coin in my pocket for all of these years. While we were waiting in the foyer for the doors to open, I pulled the coin out one last time and asked if the offer was still good. Of course, it was and we embraced one final time as a single daughter and father.

The wedding party looked great and everything went as planned. No doubt there were many mixed emotions for everyone. Sisters losing a brother. Brothers losing a brother, Brothers losing a sister. Parents losing their children. The air was thick with mixed emotions of joy and sadness. However, we knew this was the right time and place for such an exciting event.

Mrs. Kelly and I are very blessed parents. We have watched DeAnna grow up to be a fine lady. She has matured in so many ways to make her the perfect help meet for Josh.

DeAnna is the joy and pride of our life. We both felt a sense of peace as we watch Josh give kiss her for the very first time. At that moment we knew God's will had been fulfilled in her life.

Last night, when all was said and done we came home to a house with one less member. RG went straight to DeAnna's room crawled up in her bed and went right to sleep.

Week Six - Campaign Was A Success!

ENDURING PRAISE ENSEMBLE

This past Sunday was the last week of our six-week campaign with the theme of "Spring Thing Fling." The building was full and the spirit was great.

The service started out with the teen ensemble, Enduring Praise, singing with the choir backing them up. This is a group of young people who faithfully practice every Sunday at 4:30. The practice shows every time they sing in church.

GREAT CROWD ON MOTHER'S DAY

With May 8th being Mother's Day, the building was full of those precious ladies, I preached on the subject of "The Purpose of a Mother."

At the invitation time we were able to see many people saved and baptized. We ended up the week end with 14 professions at the altar and 11 of those following the Lord in baptism on Sunday. Between the America For Christ on Saturday and the efforts on Sunday, we ended up with over 180 professions of faith and 84 baptisms. We may not win the world in one weekend, but we can keep being faithful week in and week out.

PASTOR GRAY PREACHING UP A STORM

On Sunday night during the campaign we had a great time goofing off for about an hour. We handed out boxes of things with a simple game of pass it up. Plus, "Thing 1 Team" came from behind and won the entire campaign with a tie breaking game between senior Robert Bagwell and Christina Reppond competing in a great game of "Rock, Paper, and Scissors."

JUAN MEAVE LOSING HIS HAIR

One last bit of information that you will like. Juan Meave, one of our bus captains, gave the challenge to his workers to hit a goal of salvations. They exceeded the goal of 800 salvations for the campaign. The reward for the workers was for Bro. Juan to shave his head. So, on Sunday night I had the honors of finishing off the last bit of his wonderful hair. We had a good time poking fun at him.

On A Date Again

Since this is the last two days of college. Ryan Pledger and Sharon Carstens are trying to squeeze as much time together as they possibly can.

They started out the day at the Tyler State Park with the annual TBC end of the year picnic. Now they are enjoying Olive Garden with Mrs. Kelly and myself.

These two young adults are totally in love with the Lord and somewhat in like with each other they think. Lol.

What Ryan does not know yet is he is paying for the meal.

Evangelist Chris Dallas

Last night for our Wednesday night service we had the privilege of listening to Evangelist Chris Dallas. Bro. Dallas preached an excellent message on keeping Christ at the center of everything we do.

He is preaching in college chapel today here at Texas Baptist College. There is no doubt God is using him around the country with being in over 60+ churches on the average for the past four years.

Getting Closer To The Big Day

I just received this picture from my daughter DeAnna. Her and Josh just left the courthouse with their Marriage License.

We are just 17 days away from a huge change in the Gray II family. Every moment at this point is full of mixed emotions for Kelly and I. We find ourselves prolonging each hug with our daughter and lingering with our eyes as they meet with hers knowing time is slipping away for us with each passing moment.

They say the marriage of your female child is not the losing of a daughter but the gaining of a son. However, for Kelly and I it seems more like losing than gaining at this point.

Now that I have showed the emotional side of being a father I am going back to the reality of life. Less insurance! Less food! Less expenses! Lol

We love you DeAnna and are extremely proud of you and Josh. May God give us LOTS of grandchildren. Lol.

Week Five - Spring Thing Fling Campaign

PASTOR GRAY PREACHING ON SUNDAY AM

What a great day we had this past Sunday! It was week five of our spring campaign. The buses were running! Sunday school classes were packed! Auditorium was full! God came down! I preached on the subject of "So Many Kinds of Voices in this World." I had a wonderful time teaching and preaching about listening to the right voice and not the wrong one.

Then the invitation started and the people began to fill the altars. Wow! we had a great time. I was able to witness men come forward and desire to be saved and then do the "manly" thing and follow the Lord in baptism. At the end of the weekend, the Lord allowed us to see 174 professions of faith and 91 baptisms. Just at the altars of the Longview Baptist Temple on Sunday we were able to watch 10 professions of faith with 6 of those following the Lord in baptism. The rest were a result of hard work by the many workers on our America For Christ outreach program on Saturday.

I am a blessed pastor to be able to preach to such a great group of Christians. I really need to stop at this point and thank the five pastors who paved the way for us to enjoy the facilities that we have. No doubt the Lord has been very good to us. About the time I feel discouraged about life, I make my way to the house of God and then I am reminded why I love my job. I love my job because of the people the Lord has allowed me to serve.

One of the events I love about our church services is when we sing happy birthday to the young people of our church. Parents or grandparents place bags or balloons on the pulpit and then I call them up and we all sing Happy Birthday to them. They love this and look forward to "Pastor" leading the congregation to them. I love our church and I love my job.

Easter Weekend - Time For Pentecost!

GOD'S HOUSE FULL

What a great time we had in the house of the Lord this past Sunday. It was Easter and everyone was dressed up and looking good.

Sunday was the culmination of a Pentecost weekend of spreading the Gospel throughout a three state region. We started on "Good Friday" and ended on Sunday night.

At the end of the weekend, we were able to see over 1,400 professions of faith with over 350 people following the Lord in Baptism. Our people worked hard getting the news of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world.

PASTOR GRAY PREACHING

We are not a Mega Church by any stretch of the imagination. We are simply a church that cares for the souls of lost men. I appreciate all of the good people of the Longview Baptist Temple who gave of their time and energy to travel thousands of miles on some old church buses to do the Lord's work. This is an annual event for us and we meet this week to work out the details for next years Pentecost weekend.

Of course at the end of the service, I had all of the children of our drive in crowd line up and I was able to pass out plastic eggs full of candy. What a privilege it is to be part of a growing and exciting church. No doubt God has given us some wonderful families.

Just a note of excitement for one of our members Mrs. Cooks. Mrs. Cooks had eleven of her family members in church with her on Easter Sunday. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren.

Pentecost Campaign - Shreveport, LA

Mrs. Kelly, RG, and I headed to Shreveport to spread the Gospel. I was leading a man to the Lord named Derrick as I returned to the car Mrs. Kelly was in the middle of leading these two boys to the Lord. We had met their mother earlier and she gave us permission when we came across them. Praise the Lord - the Gospel still works.

2011 Pentecost Campaign Starts Today!

Every year our church sets aside two days and travels beyond our city limits to other towns and states to spread the Gospel.

This year we are traveling to Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana. Buses pulled out at 5:00 a.m. this morning with right at 100 soul winners ready to spread the good news of salvation over these three states.

Here is how the Pentecost Campaign works. Buses pull into an area that is heavily populated. Soul winners go out and lead people to Jesus Christ. If they are minors, then the soul winners have the parents sign a permission form. This permission forms allows the young people to ride the shuttle buses to a specific location that is equipped with a preaching area. There we go over the Gospel once again, then give everyone who wants to follow the Lord in baptism an opportunity to do so. Always the response is amazing from the parents and children alike. We are very committed to letting the parents know up front what exactly is taking place and even encourage the parents to attend, which many of them do. Week Three - Spring Thing Fling Campaign

Week three of our "Spring Thing Fling" went great. Each week just keeps getting better and better. We ended up the day with 16 professions of faith at the altar and 9 of those following the Lord in baptism. Our America For Christ had another incredible weekend. they saw 92 professions of faith and 47 of those following the Lord in baptism. Building was full! Preaching was great! Singing lifted hearts! God is Good!

On Sunday night, we do several things that have become quite enjoyable. Since it is a Dr. Seuss theme, I read a different Dr. Seuss book each Sunday night. Last night I read "Theres A Wocket In My Pocket." We put the pages of the book up on the screen and I read with expression. The children really enjoy it. To be honest, I think the adults enjoy it more than the children. To any extent, we have a great time. This past Sunday, Thing 1 Team won for the week. Thing 2 Team has won two weeks and Thing 1 Team has won one week. In addition, everyone is dressing up in Thing 1 and Thing 2 garb each Sunday night to show support for their team.

Today we take our annual Jr. & Sr. trip for the students of Longview Christian Academy. We are on our way to the Ft. Worth Zoo and goofing off time in the Dallas / Ft. Worth metroplex.

So far, we have experienced one flat tire, and two stops. I really enjoy this time with our young people. It is a different setting and allows us to spend some quality time together.

Please pray for these young people. They have many life changing decisions ahead of them. No doubt, each of them are searching for the will of God.

Terry Smith Stops By

Last week I had a surprise visit from one of the former pastors of the Longview Baptist Temple, Dr. Terry Smith.

Dr. Smith is an icon in this town among anyone who has lived in Longview for over 30 years. To show the impact this dear man had on the city of Longview, there is not a month that goes by I do not meet someone who tells a story of the days when Dr. Smith was pastor back in the 70's. In fact, the chairman of our deacon board, Steve Dickerson, told me Dr. Smith was very influential in his young marriage and Christian life.

I am looking forward to Heaven when I have a chance to see how much work this dear man did for the sake of eternity.

Praise God for the ground work this man laid in the 70's for the blessing I am experiencing today.

Building Full For Week Two

This was week two of our Spring Campaign 2011. Our theme is "Spring 'Thing' Fling." We are having a great time with this particular theme. It seems the children are more in tune with the excitement which is bringing great joy to their parents.

What a great Sunday morning we had. Three stories in particular just jump out at me as I ended the morning service.

I met a gentleman named Gary on Sunday morning before Sunday school. He was brought by a lady who was on her third visit to the church. At the invitation time he accepted Christ. He wanted to follow the Lord in Baptism. As he was being baptized, the lady and Gary's wife started to cry and hug because of the joy over the decision Gary had made.
Last Sunday at the altar, a little girl named Cheyenne trusted Christ as her Saviour. We decided that this Sunday, April 10, would be her special baptism day. We put her picture in the bulletin and told how she trusted Christ. Her mommy and daddy were extremely proud of her and were her biggest fans about baptism.
Zachery and Houston are the names of the two young men. Saturday we took them and bought them suites, shirts, and ties for their special baptism day which was yesterday. Mom was sitting on the front row watching them follow the Lord in Baptism. Mom and the boys were so excited they came back on Sunday night to support their team.

When the entire day was done and complete of Sunday school, singing, preaching, fellowshipping, and loving the Lord. The Lord blessed with 14 professions of faith at the altar and 10 of those following the Lord in baptism. America For Christ worked hard on Saturday to see 121 professions of faith with 74 following the Lord in baptism.

Week One - Spring Campaign 2011

Week one of the Spring "Thing" Fling Campaign went great. The building was full and the spirit was excellent. The service started off with the men's ensemble singing, "I Am On The Winning Side." When the got to the chorus the adult choir joined them. We have divided our church up into two teams; "Thing 1" & "Thing 2". This week "Thing 2" won.

We ended up the day with 198 professions of faith and 89 people following the Lord in baptism. 22 professions and 10 baptisms of those took place at the altar on Sunday morning. The rest of professions and baptisms came through our America For Christ outreach on Saturday in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area.

Truly the Lord has been good to us here at the Longview Baptist Temple. Please pray for us as we continue to preach the Word, win souls, and encourage the saints. If you get a chance, you can listen to all of the sermons online at www.lbtministries.com.

Christian Business Connect

This morning we met again with the business owners of the Longview Baptist Temple and one area Christian business owner at the Wingate Hotel conference room.

The 45 minutes was productive. We learned about different aspects of the business world. At every meeting we ask one of our members to give us a five minute talk on an aspect of their business that brought about success. This morning we heard from Bobby Summerford owner of Agape Cleaning. The five minutes of insight opened up a world of thoughts for all who attended. We then gave each of the sixteen owners one minute to give us a business tip that would encourage us in our business endeavors.

Looking forward to the next meeting Monday morning, April 11, 2010 @ 6:45. Please continue to pray for wisdom for those Christian business owners.

This morning at 6:57 a new addition arrived at the house of Michael and Nicole Koehn. Kendall Ann Koehn arrived weighing 7lbs 10 oz and was 20 inches long. Kendall has four older siblings; one sister and four brothers.

Michael and Nicole are great Christians and are wonderful parents. There is no doubt the Lord in HIs wisdom placed Kendall with the right set of parents. Please continue to pray for the recovery of Nicole and the beginning days of Kendall.

Praise the Lord for the new addition to our church family.

This morning I had the privilege of attending the first meeting of an organization for business owners of the Longview Baptist Temple called "Christian Business Connect". This group (CBC) was created to be a support and referral group for those business owners looking to influence a community for Christ. By the way, Christian Business Connect is not limited to just those business owners who are members of the Longview Baptist Temple. CBC is a group that would welcome Christian business owners from across the area provided they are recommended and invited by a current member. In weeks to come you will be informed of a website that will explain more about our goal and mission.

We meet every Monday morning at 6:45 for 45 minutes at the Wingate hotel on North Loop 281. The meeting is structured and organized. This is not a church service. This is a business owner think tank. We come together to encourage each other and to gather ideas to become more successful in business.

Please pray for this group of men and ladies as they dedicated their business to the Lord and seek His mind on their work.

I am excited about the future of this organization and the potential to be a driving force for Christ in the East Texas area.

I am excited to announce that the LBT Food Pantry is expanding it's service capability to an online food order form. We have always given food away to needy families of East Texas over the past 50 years. However, we have expanded our service to provide East Texas with the ability to shop online which will allow us to have their food box prepared and ready for them to pick up the following day.

I am excited about this ministry of opportunity to service the needs of East Texans in such a Christ-like manner. Longview Baptist Temple was approved this past month by the East Texas Food Bank to be the produce drop point for Gregg County. We will have the ability to give away fresh produce to those in need.

In addition, our church members who are going through a difficult time can take advantage of this service by filling out the online order form and our deacons will deliver the food straight to their door without the embarrassment that is sometimes associated with hard times.

What a joy it was to be able to baptize Arica Bruski this past Sunday night. Arica is the daughter of two fine parents; Aaron & Jessica Bruski. I am excited about Arica and her future for the Lord.

As Pastor, I want our young people to know the distinct parts of the Christian life. Salvation first and foremost. Baptism as the next step but not to be confused with the importance of the first step. The next step which is a continuum is to make sure Arica relies upon the Holy Spirit which lives within her to guide and comfort her through life.

The entire Callaghan Family

I had the wonderful privilege of preaching for my good friend Dan Callaghan in Richmond, CA Friday night. He is serving there with his father Pastor Mike Callaghan.

Although it was a quick trip out and back, it was a profitable trip. With the building full and having to set up chairs the Word of God was preached and teens were encouraged to live for the Lord Jesus Christ.

We sang songs, played games, and ate pizza. The teens were in rare spirits and very responsive to preaching. I preached on the subject, "This Is Not The Time Nor The Place." Because it was a one night only meeting, I opened it wide up and preached, holding nothing back.

I also was blessed with hearing from a group of spanish teenagers who played the guitars and sang. Although I did not understand one word they sang, I heard the love of Christ loud and clear. Praise the Lord for a group of men who are willing to use their talents for the Lord.

I also was able to hold Dan and Helen's new addition to the family Ashlyn Rose who is two months old. What a blessing this couple is to the teens of the church. May God continue to give them wisdom as they lead.

Auditorium Gets Brand New Lights!

Longview Baptist Temple's auditorium is getting a face lift with all brand new lighting. Every light in the auditorium is in the process of being taken out and being replaced with new lighting. The original lighting from 1973 will be missed, but not for long.

This facelift has been a long time in coming to LBT. This has been a very costly endeavor for our church. However, Sunday night two weeks ago we raised the entire needed amount in 30 minutes.

As you can see in the above picture the contrast between the center of the auditorium with the new lights and the far corner with the yellow tint is very much a noticeable. No shadow to hide anymore during preaching. LOL.

The picture below will show you what the lights look like in the ceiling. I am so excited for our church. The high powered platform lighting will be put in next week. Thank you to the membership of the Longview Baptist Temple for their generous support to the completion of this first major project.

What a joy it was to spend a few moments singing and interacting with the young people.

Kaylie is the daughter of one of our faithful ladies Amber. She also is the granddaughter of long time members Larry & Shirley Anderson.

Kaylie is a bright and beautiful young lady. I am impressed with her loving spirit and wonderful outlook on life. Looking forward to many years as her Pastor.

LBT's Valentine Banquet

Last night we held our annual church-wide valentine banquet. We had a great time. We enjoyed a great meal, great fellowship, and great games for couples.

As we played the proverbial newly wed game with old couples, we were enlighten to certain embarrassing facts that made for a great evening of laughter and fun.

Special love songs were sung as we enjoyed sitting next to our sweethearts. We played games that involved the couple working together to win a Starbucks gift card for an after banquet coffee.

We also saw two special guest that flew in just for the banquet. One young man was from Alabama, while one young lady flew in from Main. Both were a welcome surprise for the evening.

Although I am pictured here with two beautiful ladies, only one is my wife. The lady pictured below is my engage daughter, DeAnna Gray, who is schedule to be married in May of this year. This was her last banquet as a Gray. I love her and am proud of her and Josh for conducting themselves in a godly manner through the dating and engagement process.

I love pastoring such a great group of people with a heart for the Lord. May the Lord continue to bless our church.

Funeral Services For Bro. Danny Peurifoy Set!

before heading out to win the lost.

The funeral services for Bro. Danny Peurifoy have been set for Friday, January 28, 2011 at 10:00 am to be held in the auditorium of the Longview Baptist Temple. Viewing will be held at the Welch's Funeral Home on Thursday night, January 27, 2011 from 6:00 - 8:00. The Welch's Funeral Home is located at 4619 Judson Rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that money be given to several different charities including the "Danny Peurifoy TBC Scholarship Fund." These different charities will be listed in the LBT News tonight.

Tonight at our regular Wednesday night Bible study, we will be taking up a special offering to show Mrs. Peurifory our love and care in this time of loss. Please come prepared to give generously.

Pastor Gray II & Bro. Peurifoy four months ago

Yesterday, Bro. Danny Peurifoy went home to be with the Lord after a long and painful bout with cancer.

With his dear wife and family by his side, he took his last breath on this side of Heaven and woke in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Bro. Danny was a soul winner like none other. He was unashamed when it came to asking the ultimate question, "If you died today, do you know for sure that you would go Heaven." Up until the time the cancer became a constant companion he was able to ride our America For Christ Bus Ministry to the Dallas/Ft.Worth area to spread the good news of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

We will miss him and his contagious spirit for Christ. The exact details of the home-going service has not been decided by the family. I will be posting the details as I have them.

Longview Baptist Temple was graced with the presence and influence of this great man of faith, now Heaven is his home. Praise the Lord for Heaven!

"Best Prank of the Year" - Calvary Baptist Church, Canton, IL

This week I am preaching in Canton, IL at a "Sons of Thunder" Bible Conference with my brother Scott. We are enjoying a great time with our friend and host pastor, Bro. Greg Ogle of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Every year Scott and I have come to expect the unexpected with this dear group of people. This year the teenagers and some of the adults out did themselves in pranking me. As usual, I was late getting to my room because of the flight situation. As I walked into my room I was greeted with 1,100 balloons. Wow! That is right 1,100! What a sight to behold.

What a great group of people. We had a fantastic service tonight. Scott did a great job preaching on the importance of making the Ark a place of safety for your family. Proud of my dear brother.

At the invitation, we had a special moving of God in the hearts of one of our own, Cam Batten. His mother had the privilege of leading Cam to the Lord at the altar and I had the privilege of baptizing him.

Today is Kelly's birthday. She is forbidding me from publishing her age. Could it be that she has reached that mythical age of no return?

Since I could not take her back to the place of her birth which is Hawaii, she is having to settle for a steak dinner with the man of her dreams (that's me if you did not already know).

Great Fellowship With The Jordans

Last night we had the joy of being able to spend some time with Philip and Anne Jordan at a McDonalds outside of Eufaula, OK. We both were there for the occasion of the wedding of longtime former secretary and life time friend Joy Britt who is now Mrs. Robert Bleak. I will be posting pictures of the wedding in the next couple of days.

I really enjoyed being able to listen to Philip's passion about Spain. Him and Anne are Missionaries to that great land of lost people. You could hear the passion in their voice for the over 45 million people of Spain.

May the Lord bless them both. No doubt the Lord's hand is upon them.

Great Day of Soul Winning

Today was an incredible day of soul winning with one of the faithful members from our church, Bro. Dennis Capps. Pictured above is Bro. Capps leading a young lady to the Lord who is lined up to come to church in the morning.

In less than two hours the Lord blessed us with 4 souls saved and an entire family of 5 lined up for church in the morning.

Praise the Lord for the faithful men of LBT who love to get out and talk to the lost about the Lord.

Mission Trip Results

This past week some of our TBC students headed to El Paso, TX for a mission's trip. There they would cross over into Mexico. Some would say that this was a test of courage to go to such a dangerous spot. I say it was a test of faith on the part of the students.

The stories of protection and the power of God are amazing. You can read several blog enteries on my other blog The Chancellor's Viewpoint.

We will be giving testimonies this Sunday night and showing some pictures of the trip. I am excited about the vision that was put into the heart of our college students this past trip.

Great Soul-Winning Tonight

Praise The Lord! Our regular church wide soul winning is on Wednesday night. However, we still have Thursday night soul winning and we call it Pastor's Soul Winning. It is a time the men can get together and go.

Tonight I went with one of our men, Chandler Tolley. We made several visits and lined up a couple for Sunday and invited a man name Calvin to come on Sunday. Then we accomplished the purpose of the evening SOULS BEING SAVED. I was able to lead Marcelina and Bro. Chandler led Angel to the Lord.

Snow Longview TX!!!

What a Sunday we had here at the Longview Baptist Temple. This morning started out with freezing rain which turned to snow about 1:00. This afternoon I was able to enjoy some time out in the snow with the family.

We are not about to let a little snow stop us from having church. I know for your Yankees this is nothing at all, but for us who live in the South this is HUGE!

Grandma Gray Funeral Service Is Today

Mary Elizabeth Scott Gray

Mary Elizabeth Scott Gray, my grandmother, went home home to be with the Lord this past Saturday, Christmas Day, at the age of 98. Last night we were able to spend time with our family at the viewing at the Brown Funeral Home in Claredon. What a wonderful comfort it was to be with my father, siblings, wife, aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends.

The funeral services are at 1:00 today in Roe, AR. Please pray for our family. Grandma was such a big part of keeping every straight in life.

I want to thank my Uncle Jerry and Aunt Ronnie for taking care of her for the last half of her days without Grandpa. Their sacrifice is appreciated. No doubt in our minds that the rewards for caring for your mother in Heaven will be great.

Heaven is wonderful place. First, because of our Saviour. Second, because of our loved ones. Truly Heaven will be the greatest family reunion. Grandma was able to spend Christmas Day with Jesus and her husband.

The theme for Longview Baptist Temple for 2011 is "More For Heaven In 2011." As Pastor, I am excited about what the Lord has in store for our ministry here in Longview, TX. In 2010, we experienced the blessings of God with more to come in 2011.

I am dedicating 2011 as a year that we do more for the Kingdom of Heaven. More souls saved, more converts baptized, more families involved, more of reaching the community for the Lord, more Bible reading, more prayer, more memorization of God's Word, more singing the songs of God, etc... Anything and everything that points toward Heaven is what LBT is going to be about in 2011.

Please continue to check back here in 2011 as we praise the Lord for His blessings. You will see several new things that we are going to be pushing in 2011. Thank you for your friendship and support of this ministry.

I was sent this picture of our teens who were recently visiting the elderly in our area nursing homes. Praise The Lord for young people who know the value of people regardless of their age.

Merry Christmas From The Grays!

Good morning and Merry Christmas! The Gray family would like to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas. This is a very special Christmas for the Gray family as this is the last Christmas that we will spend with our oldest daughter, DeAnna, at home. She is engaged to be married in May.

Our schedule today is very simple and traditional. We will have our family Christmas here at the house. This afternoon we will make our way over to my in-laws house for our annual Christmas gathering on the Queen side of the family.

Looking forward to a wonderful day and the making of great memories. May we always remember the reason for the season which is Jesus Christ our Lord.

Generation One Christmas Dinner

This afternoon I was able to spend some time with our Generation One Teenagers.

These teenager ride our buses from Tyler, Marshall, Shreveport, and Bossier City. They are faithful and are excited about church. In order for these teenagers to ride our buses they must commit to dress and act appropriately. Teen guys must wear shirt and tie while the girls must wear dresses. What a great group of teens.

Bro. Randy Cronin works hard to love and teach these young people.

Two of them play the Violin. The rest of them sing in a choir. They are headed to the nursing home this afternoon to bless the elderly.

Please pray for them a they strive to live godly in a godless world.
